One of my favorite things to shoot are engagement sessions, and it is definitely the season for love. I had the opportunity to work with Victor & Shelby a few weeks back, and couldn't help but smile the entire time. They are the SWEETEST couple and you can see how much they love each other in every photo, a photographer's dream!!
Hope you enjoy some of my favorites from their Spring engagement shoot and leave them some love!!! I can’t WAIT for their summer wedding this year! Read More

Finding unique locations in Kansas City is one of my favorite parts of shooting engagement sessions. Gives me a chance to see parts of the city, I wouldn't normally get to. This was special because each location was just as unique and personal to the couple as the next. Meet Mike & Sonja. Born and raised across the state from each other, but their love blossomed and was crafted in KC. I love the wall we found in the East Bottoms at Urban Provisions, it was so perfect for their story. Stay tuned for more of their journey come February when they are finally married. Read More
Two weeks ago I spent the evening with Jami and Megan at the Nelson Atkins Museum for their Engagement Session and it was beyond perfect. We took our time strolling around the museum stopping at various spots and enjoying the warm air and beautiful flowers that are bloomed around the campus. Thank you Jami and Megan for choosing me as your photographer, I can't wait for your wedding reception in September, it's going to be amazing! Read More
If you are getting married in the Fall, Spring is the perfect time for Engagements photos. If you choose to do them, they are the first thing on your wedding to-do list that you will accomplish as a newly engaged couple. Planning an engagement shoot does take some time, but lean on your photographer for location ideas and what outfits to choose. With my experience I have come to find that choosing your outfits are solely based on your personalities, the weather and how comfortable you want to be, which is very important. And depending on how much time is allowed for the shoot, determines how many outfits you can bring. I recommend bringing – a fancier outfit, a stylish/casual outfit, and then finally a more laid back outfit (think jeans, shorts, sports team shirts, college attire etc.)
Below are some color inspiration outfits for the Spring but also check out my last engagement outfit post, where I provide more in detail on how to accomplish a very nice complimentary outfit with your fiance. www.dhdesignphotography.com/blog/2014/5/14/what-to-wear-engagement-edition Read More
