What to Expect

Hiring a photographer and choosing the right one is a big decision. And one of the most important parts in your decision is choosing one that you are comfortable with. One that help create memories with your loved ones. Laughing, having fun and trusting that they are capturing moments in time that you will have documented forever.

As an artist and business owner, I put my heart and soul into my clients and their sessions. I want your experience to be seamless and of course amazing! It's the time spent getting to know you, maybe over coffee or answering your questions late at night. Being your personal stylist. Plan, research and organize the shoot to make it special. Have fun with you on our session and then edit the photos to make them flawless. I will also help you pick framed enlargements or canvases for your walls and can design a special album for you to display. I want you to feel comfortable with me.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Where are you based?

A. I reside with my family in Lenexa Kansas. I love to shoot outdoors so I will travel anywhere to come to you. A travel fee may apply to make that happen if outside a 45 mile radius. Ask me about travel fees.

Q. How long will our session last?

A. If you schedule the mini session, it will be 30 min. Portrait sessions usually last between 1 to 2 hours. Newborn sessions can last as long as 3 hours (ask for my "Welcome Baby Packet" for further instructions on what to expect) And Seniors and Weddings can all depend on the package you purchase.

Q. Can we shoot in a studio?

A. I love natural light, but if you would prefer to shoot inside of a studio, a rental fee is applied to rent a local studio. I can shoot children's portraits, boudoir and newborn. Along with newborn sessions, I can also shoot in the client's home to document that very intimate interaction to tell a story, better known as lifestyle photography.

Q. Where will our session take place?

A. I have shot all over Kansas City and have many location ideas. But I do rely on what kind of style you are wanting for your shoot. Is it studio, country/open field, woodsy, or downtown/urban look? From there I will suggest locations so your session is unique to your style.

Q. What time is best for shoots?

A. In my opinion, that special hour after sunrise and right before sunset is the ultimate dreamy time for photo shoots, also known as the golden hour. I am available in the evenings during the week and all day during the weekends. I try to stay away from high noon times as it will cast harsh shadows on your face. But if you need a specific time that fits better in your day, just let me know and we're figure out the best location to make your shoot dreamy as well.

Q. What happens if I need to reschedule?

A. If needing to reschedule, please provide me with a 24+ hour notice in advance. You have 2 reschedules max!! When discussing another available date, keep in mind I am very busy and do have other sessions, so there is no guarantee on an immediate new session date.

Q. What should we wear?

A. What to wear is endless and up to how you want it styled, but I do have some recommendations.
Here are some Do's and Dont's:

Don't - All wear the same solid color, or be too matchy matchy. And please do not wear all white or shirts with logos.
Do - Find solids, patterns, accents and two or three colors that look well together and mix it up. Also personalizing it with props or your favorite hat, jacket or scarf will help your look be unique.

Don't - Wear something that is too tight or even too baggy.
Do - Find something that will make you feel comfortable and confident.

Don't - Stress out :)
Do - Ask questions and if you like, I would love to look at your wardrobe for help.

Q. What should we bring?

A. My top items for suggestions are:
    • Brush/comb, hairspray and mirror, it can be windy sometimes
    • Touch up makeup including lip stick/lip gloss
    • Wipes or stain pen just in case of dirt spots
    • Snacks for the little ones to keep up their energy
    • Extra bottle and diapers for babies
    • Blanket for posing on the ground
    • Props that will go along with your session ideas or theme
    • Layers/jackets just in case of a chill breeze

Q. How should we pay?

A. Your session fee is due the day of your session if you book a portrait photo shoot. You can pay by cash, check or card. Once your images are delivered 2 weeks from your shoot, via your online proofing gallery (with a watermark), you can either pay to receive your downloadable digital images or you can individually order prints and enlargements from your gallery ($50 minimum order). If you are booking a wedding, a 25% retainer fee is due upon signing your wedding contract. You can then pay in payments or all at once, but must be paid in full a week before your wedding day.

Q. How will my photos be delivered? And will I receive a printer's release?

A. All sessions will receive a custom online proofing gallery within 2 weeks of your session along with a printer's release. If you purchase the digital files, you will automatically have the option to download the photos. If you want to purchase prints and enlargements I can take your order or you can simply order through your gallery. Wedding images will be delivered roughly between 6-8 weeks on a USB drive.

Q. Do you use social media and will my photos be posted?

A. I love to post previews from my session only with written consent i.e. model release. And if so, all images I post will need to keep the copyright intact. Tagging of photos is also with your permission and feel free to tag yourself and anyone you please. I also love to spotlight each of my sessions with a special blog post. You are free to share on any social media platform. If you post the images from the downloaded gallery without the watermark, I just ask to be credited.
